-
Most tattoos heal on the surface within 2–3 weeks, but the deeper layers of skin can take 4–6 weeks to fully heal. During this time, it's important to follow your artist's aftercare instructions, keep the tattoo clean, moisturized, and protected from direct sunlight.
-
You can shower the same day unless your artist gives different instructions. Use lukewarm water, avoid soaking the tattoo, and gently wash it with a fragrance-free soap. Pat the area dry with a clean towel instead of rubbing it.
-
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, and oceans until your tattoo has completely healed—typically 2–4 weeks. Soaking a fresh tattoo can increase the risk of infection and may affect the healing process.
-
Yes. Peeling, flaking, and mild itching are normal parts of the healing process. Do not scratch or pick at the peeling skin, as this can remove ink and affect the final appearance of your tattoo.
-
During the healing process, avoid:
Direct sunlight
Swimming and soaking
Tight clothing that rubs the tattoo
Scratching or picking the skin
Heavy friction on the tattooed area
Following these guidelines will help your tattoo heal properly and maintain its detail.
